Animal Humane Society provides the animal welfare expertise, shelter environment, and canine guidance that help make Recovery Walks safe, meaningful, and beneficial for both people and dogs.
TWIN CITIES WELLNESS CENTER & RECOVERY GYM
Primary Participation Hub
For the Recovery Walks pilot program, Twin Cities Wellness Center & Recovery Gym serves as the primary participation portal – helping connect people in its recovery community with the program and providing transportation for scheduled walks. By helping participants get connected and get there, Recovery Gym makes opportunities for service, reflection, community, and meaningful time with shelter dogs more accessible.

Recovery Walks is where we begin. Connection, service, and reflection have the potential to reach much further.
As One Leash. Two Lives. grows, we envision exploring programs that bring human-animal connection to other communities that may benefit from purpose, belonging, and meaningful service. Future possibilities may include programs serving:
- Youth experiencing adversity
- Individuals & families navigating reentry after incarceration
- Survivors of human trafficking
- Survivors of domestic abuse
- Veterans & military families
- Seniors
- Persons with disabilities
- Individuals facing serious or life-limiting illness
